Without the Silk Route, Saffron, the colour and its crop which has seeped its way into the very fabric of India’s existence, gets replaced by Indigo. A native colour and plant of the nation, Indigo finds its way into our cultural and political history, painting India in its bright, royal hue. It becomes a colour of reverence, of worship and of political importance. Ultimately, the colour becomes synonymous to our sub-continent.
