The imagery is an extrapolated and semi-exaggerated representation of Shillong in 2019. The city deals with rapid, dystopian urbanisation that comes with the tag of ‘capital’.An indigenous man from Khasi tribe is shown cleaning an old government car. This symbolizes the plight of the natives and the state of the government. As the city brims with people from other cities, the environment deteriorates and Shillong loses its natural splendour. Sub-events with Anglo-Indian architecture in the background are represented: drying up of the Elephant Falls and booming oil industry because of the proximity to Digboi and other oil reserves.

The visual transforms a contemporary poster of IPL (Indian Premier League) into a tournament of gilli danda. It is where Indian states and cities come out to play with a positive approach. Without the Britishers, Hindi and Urdu are both primary languages in the north of India.

With great courage and strength, many princely states declared war under the British rule and ultimately were successful in The Revolt of 1857. But, the success was short-lived. The fabrication of the ruling nationwide, different kings for different states, led to battles amongst themselves for power and to extend their territories. These conflicts led to the suffering of people once again. The visual depicts an irony through a playing card; a reflection of the two sides. There exist great similarities and contrast despite the successful revolt.

Sure, we still contend with the long-running problems of illiteracy and deprivation, but everyone realises that together is the best way ahead, and the future looks bright.
